What I AM watching still.

Friday Night Lights.
- I love the casting of Landry's father. He totally looks and speaks just like Landry. Great job, casting people!
- Good riddance to the bad bad coach.
- I can't believe how Julie has turned so rotten and Tyra is reformed. Maybe a bit of a reality-stretch, but so much fun to watch.
- Crazy how Riggins is the voice of reason in this whole Jason-goes-to-Mexico-for-experimental-treatment storyline.

Grey's Anatomy.
- Loved the boy without ears. How cute was he?
- So Gizzy's sin is out in the open. Will this story EVER end?
- I'm happy to see that blond transplant doctor sticking around. She'll be the perfect foil for Cristina. That was a great scene where she shut Cristina down from assisting her in the transplant.

30 Rock.
- Seriously people, you need to watch this show. So funny.

Desperate Housewives.
- Much better episode this weekend. Fun to watch Katherine be so bitchy.

America's Next Top Model.
- I just want to slap Tyra HARD. There isn't a more annoying, self-righteous person on TV right now. She told Ebony there was nothing she hated more than a quitter? Well, Ebony doesn't want to be on your lame show. Wouldn't you rather her figure that out and give someone else a chance? Ugghhh. But it is sooooo much fun to hate Tyra.

What I've been NOT watching.

Soooooo... I have weeded out the good and not-so-good shows this season. Remember when I was thinging Reaper was so great? Well, it's boring. I don't like it anymore. I'm deleting it off my DTVR.

Reaper joins Private Practice as shows I've deleted.

Heroes.

A great episode last night. Except for the Hiro stuff. I still hate that part. I can't wait for Hiro to come back to the present. What a shocking turn of events when Parkman and Nathan went to visit Mr. Parkman. Mr. Parkman has the power to make you live your worst nightmare! Scary. And Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars!) is a bad hero. I wasn't expecting that.

Love the new power of cousin in New Orleans. That is so cool - being able to copy anything. I am enjoying the interaction between her and Micah.

Here's hoping next week is just as great (with no Hiro in the 17th century stuff).

DH and FNL.

Desperate Housewives: How ridiculous was last night's episode? Especially the stuff with Susan and the new neighbours. OMG - I wanted to throw something at the TV. I wonder if Terri Hatcher was pissed about such a lame story line? I would have been. And Bree's former mother-in-law finding out her secret - TOTALLY predictable. I might have to take back my comment about Desperate Housewives being better this year. (But I will give it another chance.... even though I'm way backed-up with my TV viewing... One more chance, that is all...)

Friday Night Lights: Another solid solid episode. Maybe even the best episode of the season. Despite my reservations, I am loving the Landry/Tyra love story. When Tyra explained to Landry's dad what a great guy Landry is - loved it. And bad-girl Julie - what to make of that? She's definitely done a 180 this year. Can't wait to see what happens next week.

Grey's & The Office.

I am sooooo behind in my TV watching. But I did take the time to watch both Grey's and The Office last night.

Grey's Anatomy: I found this episode incredibly boring. I actually couldn't wait for it to be over. Izzy thought Callie wanted to fight her? in the cafeteria? seriously. And I am soooooo sick of Meredith and McDreamy. What is her problem? And the whole telling-the-wrong-patient-she-is-going-to-die story - so cliche. Here's hoping next week's episode is better.

The Office: I'm confused - isn't it because of Jan that Michael is in financial trouble? Yet, she blamed it totally on him. And then when I thought back to Oscar's bar graph - he was mentioning frivolous purchases like multiple magic sets - which makes me think Michael indeed has the spending problem...

Dwight's agri-tourist (NOT bed and breakfast) farm - hilarious. Mose totally cracked me up. Or was the whole Mose character in bad taste? No matter, I thought it was funny.

Other observations:

- Wasn't that cat Angela was holding HUGE? Or is she just that small?

- Jim and Pam... sigh.... I love them. They are so PERFECT for each other.

- Michael taking the bus to his second job (it's a secret!) - too funny. And yet, sad. I never thought I'd feel sorry for Michael, and yet I do.

- I am looking forward to this show getting back to the 30 minute format - I think it's much better that way.

- Ryan making Michael do a PowerPoint presentation on using PowerPoint. Too funny. Probably more funny to those of us who work in an office...

I might have some time to catch up on other DTVR'd shows this weekend. Hopefully....

Heroes.

Good episode last night. We quite enjoyed it. Some bullets:
  • Do we know what Mama Petrelli's powers are?
  • Is Claire's new boyfriend bad? I'm thinking perhaps.
  • I really wish Sylar wasn't back this year. I'd rather see a new bad guy. Sylar is so 2006.
  • I think Matt Parkman is my favourite hero.
  • I just love little Micah. How cute is he?
  • What is Monica's power? She can design vegetables into flower shapes? That'll get her far.

FNL & DH.

Friday Night Lights - Just as great as last week's episode. Landry, sigh, Landry - what a talented young man, that actor is - his angst over what he's done - perfectly played. And when he told Tyra he was in love with her and said "don't look at me like you didn't know." Fantastic. And I soooo sympathize with Tami - all on her own with a newborn... AND a moody teenager. Coach Taylor: you need to get home where you belong.

Sally - order DTVR, stat. I can't believe you are missing your favourite show!

Desperate Housewives - (This one is for you, Cheryl!) I started watching again. And it's actually good this season. I loved Lynette all loopy. And I'm curious about Katherine's family's mystery. And how Bree is going to pass of Danielle's baby as her own when you just KNOW that Danielle is going to spill the beans. Also looking forward to Susan getting some meat on her bones with this pregnancy.

Anyone else watching Weeds or Damages? So good. So so so good.

What I've Watched.

America's Next Top Model: Why, oh, why did Tyra think Saleisha should look like Tootie from Facts of Life (thanks for that, Ali!).

And then all the judges tell Saleisha she has "dead eyes" (or whatever the crap the judges' expression-of-the-day is)... well, the reason Saleisha has dead eyes is because YOU CAN'T SEE THEM. God.

Jenah's makeover also made her look like ass. The bad bad fake hair ala Britney. Stupid idea.

I was sad to see Victoria go. I liked her look. Although she did push it with all her back talk (albeit awkward back talk).

Grey's Anatomy: Another solid episode. How much to do you all heart Bailey? And Cristina. I just want the "Bailey and Cristina Show". (Hard to believe that Cristina was able to snow Meredith with her "sadness" bit... but I loved when claimed "sad" as HER emotion.) Loved seeing Richard from Gilmore Girls. I hope he sticks around.

30 Rock: Great show. Very funny. You should be watching.

Pushing Daisies: I want to the love this show. The critics love this show. And it's different. And beautiful to look at. But I'm just not hooked yet. My biggest problem with it is that I think it would be a perfect kids show - and yet, they throw just a couple things in there that doesn't make it acceptable for kids to watch.

That's all I've had time to watch this week - but I do have several shows on my DTVR - i.e. Dirty, Sexy, Money (still not completely committed to this one) and The Office (will be the next show I watch). Don't forget about Friday Night Lights tonight.

TV Catch Up.

So I was sick this past weekend. Which gave me the opportunity to clean out my DTVR. But since I don't plan on being sick again any time soon, I know I need to remove a few things from my "season's pass". First to go: Private Practice. Just really not good. Not worth my time.

Here's my analysis of the many many shows I've watched over the last few days.

The Good:

1. Friday Night Lights. Sometimes I wonder if a show should just end after the first season. Like it can be an awesome awesome one season show and then end on a real high note. (Maybe Grey's Anatomy should have done that?) I thought this about Friday Night Lights. I wondered how they could keep up the quality from season one. But the season two premiere did not disappoint. Not in the least. I love love love this show. Connie Britton continues to be the most brilliant actress on TV (hello, emmy nominators!!!). Lyla saying grace at the dinner table with her mom and mom's new boyfriend - fab: “And please let other people at this table have the strength to realize that a mother of three should not be wearing skinny jeans.”

Couple of things: Julie - stop being mean to my Matt Sarason! And Landry should not be playing football. Oh, and why, at the pool, was no one wearing sunglasses (except for Tami)???

2. Heroes. This was another show that I thought (for a second) maybe should have been done after one season. But I really do love this show (except for the stuff with Hiro in the 17th century - ughhhh). Claire flying around with her new boyfriend.... sigh. And Sylar is back (and looking pretty screwed at this point). I'm even enjoying the new heroes (Maya and Alejandro). (But I do wonder why, if Alejandro can "revive" the dead people, he didn't revive all the people Maya killed on the truck in the first episode???)

The Okay:

1. Aliens in America. I wasn't as thrilled with the second episode as I was with the first. It seemed pretty "formula" and predictable to me. Hopefully the third episode is better.

2. ER. This show is like comfort food for me. And I heart John Stamos. He's great.

3. America's Next Top Model. I'm having a hard time getting into it this season. Maybe there are still too many girls in the competition... I might enjoy it more once a few more are eliminated.

4. Reaper. It was okay. Still one of the better new series. But I didn't love this episode. Too much time was spent with what'shisname and what'shisname trying to lose the box.

The Bad:

1. Private Practice. 'Nuff said.

Thursday Night: Grey's & The Office

Before I even say anything about past TV, I have to remind you all the Friday Night Lights is on tonight. DON'T MISS IT.

***************************************************************************

I simply do not have enough time to watch everything in one night. So I picked Grey's and The Office. Grey's for you guys and The Office for me.

I have to admit that this week's Grey's was much improved over last week's. (No stupid deer rescue!) The crystal meth storyline was intense. Dihann Carroll - amazing (does this woman every age? she looks fantastic). Also loving Bailey last night. Happy to see her "back".

But I am still so ready for the end of George and Izzy. I still do not buy that relationship. And I never will.

And Derek and Meredith.... sigh.... maybe there is no where more to go with that relationship. Sad.

The Office: I also loved this episode more than last week's. So fun! Jim and Pam! Pam and Jim! Doesn't Jenna Fisher just look radiant?

The return of Ryan and Jan! Loved.

Steve Carrell continues to amaze me with his comedic genious.

Old guy dying his hair - brilliant. Literally laughed out loud.

OH OH OH - We watched 30 Rock for the first time (thought we should give it a chance since it was getting such great critical buzz). And although it was a bit "flat" at times, I believe it is a "keeper". Tracy Morgan is brilliant. Brilliant, I tell you. (As are Tina Fey (girl crush!) and Alec Baldwin.)

Pushing Daisies - First Episode.

As I mentioned, Pushing Daisies has been praised by TV critics as the best new show this season. We gave it a watch last night and I would categorize it as "quirky". I'm assuming that the critics saw several episodes of the first season because I'm not sure you could tell that this is the best new show from just this one episode. However, it was good. Or as Scott said, "different".

Some observations:

1. The show was only rated "PG" (as opposed to 14A like many of the shows we watch) so I thought it might be appropriate for Ry to watch (after we reviewed it, of course). But there were a couple things in it that made me think I really don't want him to watch it. So I've deleted it off the DTVR without giving Ry the opportunity to watch.

2. The actor who plays Ned must be GIANT because the two women in the show are TINY compared to him. That one had to stand on a coffee table to be face-to-face to him.

3. The little boy who played Ned looked so much like Ty, one of the kids in our neighbourhood. I couldn't believe the resemblance.

4. Swoozie Kurtz in an eye patch - awesome!

Wednesday Night TV.

Don't forget to watch Pushing Daisies tonight. Most TV critics are calling it the best new show of the season. It was on CTV last night so I've already DTVR'd it. I was hoping to actually watch it last night so I could be all "I've seen it already and you haven't neener neener" but life got in the way. I will definitely watch it tonight so I can review it on here for tomorrow. I just hope my expectations aren't too high now...

Also, Bionic Woman tonight. I did enjoy it last week so I'm looking forward to it again.

Oh, and America's Next Top Model... I DTVR'd it last week and something happened where I only go the end... Hopefully that doesn't happen again.

Heroes and Aliens.

Heroes: I enjoyed this week's episode more than last week's. But ewwwwww on Claire cutting off her own toe (cool how it grew back, though). I am tired of Claire arguing with her father about "being herself". Seriously, she knows the alternative so suck it up already.

The stuff with Hiro still isn't thrilling me - I need to know how it ties into modern times. But cool how Sark has the same power as Claire.

I hated to see my Peter Petrelli get beaten up like that. Luckily he has Claire's power as well. Not loving that he's going to have to become a thief to get out of the situation.

Loved seeing the Haitian back! Love love love the Haitian.

I'm wondering how HRG's new neighbours aren't suspicious how he lives in such a great house on a photocopier-boy salary.

Aliens in America: I had seen this episode already (on the CW site) but it was just as funny the second time. OMG - total laugh-out-loud moments. Scott was laughing right along with me. What a gem this show is.

Tonight is the second episode of Reaper. Don't miss it.

Grey's, ER, Private Practice and More...

My thoughts on shows I've recently watched:

Grey's Anatomy - As I expected, I was disappointed. I just want this show to be so much better than it is. A few observations:

- Meredith has always reminded me of a muppet. I don't know why I feel like I should tell you this...

- This particular episode was pretty gory. To me, I was more grossed out by the compulsive-eater guy. I cannot believe the stuff he consumed.

- OK - when the episode started all the doctors were talking like they hadn't seen each other for weeks. They were all on vacation. What hospital allows so many doctors to be on vacation at the same time?

- So is this how it is going to go with Derek and Meredith - break up, make out, break up, make out?

- The whole George/Izzy thing needs to stop now.

Private Practice - Actually, this one wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I think I enjoyed it! The whole thing with Violet and Cooper in the store with the crazy lady was fantastic. I'll be keeping this one programmed in the DTVR.

The Office - A few great laughs, but not as sharp as past episodes. I love that Pam and Jim are together, though.

ER - Sally was right, it was GOOD! I gave up on this show last season, but I think I'm going to keep watching this season. Love John Stamos so much! When he went all crazy on that bomb guy.... fantastic!

Wow, that's a lot of TV watching. Thank goodness for the DTVR and fast-forward.

Tonight is Heroes and Chuck. Don't forget.

OH OH OH - Aliens in America premiers tonight! I cannot wait for this one!
