TV Catch Up.

So I was sick this past weekend. Which gave me the opportunity to clean out my DTVR. But since I don't plan on being sick again any time soon, I know I need to remove a few things from my "season's pass". First to go: Private Practice. Just really not good. Not worth my time.

Here's my analysis of the many many shows I've watched over the last few days.

The Good:

1. Friday Night Lights. Sometimes I wonder if a show should just end after the first season. Like it can be an awesome awesome one season show and then end on a real high note. (Maybe Grey's Anatomy should have done that?) I thought this about Friday Night Lights. I wondered how they could keep up the quality from season one. But the season two premiere did not disappoint. Not in the least. I love love love this show. Connie Britton continues to be the most brilliant actress on TV (hello, emmy nominators!!!). Lyla saying grace at the dinner table with her mom and mom's new boyfriend - fab: “And please let other people at this table have the strength to realize that a mother of three should not be wearing skinny jeans.”

Couple of things: Julie - stop being mean to my Matt Sarason! And Landry should not be playing football. Oh, and why, at the pool, was no one wearing sunglasses (except for Tami)???

2. Heroes. This was another show that I thought (for a second) maybe should have been done after one season. But I really do love this show (except for the stuff with Hiro in the 17th century - ughhhh). Claire flying around with her new boyfriend.... sigh. And Sylar is back (and looking pretty screwed at this point). I'm even enjoying the new heroes (Maya and Alejandro). (But I do wonder why, if Alejandro can "revive" the dead people, he didn't revive all the people Maya killed on the truck in the first episode???)

The Okay:

1. Aliens in America. I wasn't as thrilled with the second episode as I was with the first. It seemed pretty "formula" and predictable to me. Hopefully the third episode is better.

2. ER. This show is like comfort food for me. And I heart John Stamos. He's great.

3. America's Next Top Model. I'm having a hard time getting into it this season. Maybe there are still too many girls in the competition... I might enjoy it more once a few more are eliminated.

4. Reaper. It was okay. Still one of the better new series. But I didn't love this episode. Too much time was spent with what'shisname and what'shisname trying to lose the box.

The Bad:

1. Private Practice. 'Nuff said.

I bought the first season of Friday Night Lights...we're on the 5th show...and it is a great as you say! Dee likes it just as much as I do. Now we have something we can make a point to watch together! I started DTVRing the second season so we can catch up eventually.

What about Desperate Housewives?? Aren't you watching it? There's been 2 new shows already. Is that one off your list?

Someday i'll get a chance to watch FNL...Cheryl has season 1 that i get to borrow from her someday. And, I'll probably have to buy season 2 next year...since i'm behind already.

Getting the new max is taking some getting used to since we can't just tape with the vcr and still be able to change channels. i'm told that dtvr can allow us to tape something and watch something else at the same time...but, i've heard horror stories (ha!) of this not being the case.

for now i think my solution will be to move my vcr to the non-main tv viewing room. then maybe, just maybe i'll be able to actually watch shows that are current when I have the time to watch tv...ya know...3 hours or 3 days after they have already aired. haha

ACK...thanks to our play, I've missed all 3 new episodes of FNL! Can't wait to get back to my fave show.

And ER? I.KNOW! Love, love, love.

Have you ever watched Californication? My friend Traci swears it's the most brilliant tv ever. Channel 206 under 'television.'
