Pushing Daisies - First Episode.
As I mentioned, Pushing Daisies has been praised by TV critics as the best new show this season. We gave it a watch last night and I would categorize it as "quirky". I'm assuming that the critics saw several episodes of the first season because I'm not sure you could tell that this is the best new show from just this one episode. However, it was good. Or as Scott said, "different".
Some observations:
1. The show was only rated "PG" (as opposed to 14A like many of the shows we watch) so I thought it might be appropriate for Ry to watch (after we reviewed it, of course). But there were a couple things in it that made me think I really don't want him to watch it. So I've deleted it off the DTVR without giving Ry the opportunity to watch.
2. The actor who plays Ned must be GIANT because the two women in the show are TINY compared to him. That one had to stand on a coffee table to be face-to-face to him.
3. The little boy who played Ned looked so much like Ty, one of the kids in our neighbourhood. I couldn't believe the resemblance.
4. Swoozie Kurtz in an eye patch - awesome!

I really enjoyed, "Pushing Daisies," but the two glasses of Yellow Tail may have helped. I found the actors playing Ned and Chuck really likeable--we'll see if they keep that up.
Wednesdays might be fun. Top Model and Pushing Daisies. Private Practice might have to work hard to get a commitment from me.
I only caught the last half of the show...and I'm with Scott...the show is "different".
But in a good way, I think. It actually kind of reminds me of the Nanny McPhee movie...I think it's the narrator and the somewhat deliberate over-acting.
Looking forward to next week's espisode.
I also watched Private Practice...and balled for the last 10 minutes, I'm sure. I'm such a wimp.
Oh! I just watched that on my DVR and loved it! It's nice to see something new come along! It's defnitely "different" but that might well be a good thing. We'll see as the season progresses!
